Instant Rebates Are Back!

Canon has put their instant rebates back into effect. It's the usual suspects with a few additions. The 40D will have a $50 Instant Rebate, and the 50D will have a $100 Instant Rebate. Suprisingly, Canon's brand new 18-200 Image Stabilized lens gets a $50 Instant Rebate and you can even double dip, meaning that the Canon 50D with 18-200IS lens kit sees a whopping $150 in combined Instant Rebates. Fun Fact

Adray's has been around so long, many famous people have been one of our customers. Yes, that is the real Muhammad Ali at Adray's in April of 1988! Rumor has it that he actually levitated in the air using his superb mind over body control. Unfortunately, no one had a camera at their ready to take a picture. Lighting is the Key to Great Portraits

Lighting is the key to getting great portrait results. Many of us get lazy and use the built-in flash for portraits. Adray's Dave decided that a quick show and tell would help everyone get prepared for the Holiday Photo Season.

Carolyn reluctantly volunteered to be Dave's model. In the picture below, you can see the harshness of the direct flash. It shows harsh shadows and is generally not very flattering (although Carolyn's smile makes up for a lot).

In the next picture below, once again we have Carolyn, except this time, Dave turned the camera for a vertical or portrait shot. In addition, Dave attached a Gray Fong Whale Tail to the Flash. The Whale Tail eliminates the necessity of a flash bracket and cord. It allows you to take very flattering and diffuse portraits without spending a fortune or carrying around a ton of gear. For those of you who even like to travel lighter, the Gary Fong Origami is perfect. I recently discovered this with a very talented young photographer. Expo Details

The First Annual Fall Photo Expo will be held inside the Dearborn store. Sale pricing will be valid for the entire time the store is open, however, manufacturers representatives will be on hand from 2-9pm on Friday, and 10-7pm on Saturday.
